North American Signs was founded
in 1934 by the late Maurice P. Yarger, as "South Bend Neon."
The firm specialized in neon signs for local General Motors, Ford and Chrysler
dealers as well as local department stores and retail businesses. As technology
has changed North American Signs added plastic faced signs lit by fluorescent
tubes and more recently has been an industry leader providing signs lit with
light emitting diodes (LED's).
In the 1970's North American Signs changed its focus to national and regional
chain accounts and today has served such accounts as The Limited, OfficeMax,
Barnes & Noble Booksellers, GameStop and Red Roof Inn. The shift to chain
or franchised accounts was natural as the retailing and service industries
changed from locally owned facilities to nationally or regionally owned chains
or franchises. The firm is presently housed in a modern building located on
13 acres that is located directly opposite the regional airport enabling us
to reach our national customers in a convenient manner.
North American Signs' industry leadership has been recognized in the following
ways. We were the first area firm to join The International Sign Association
and have served on various committees and functions including Vice President
of Legislation. We are a long time member of the World Sign Associates, an
association of sign industry leaders recognized for practicing and promoting
the highest professional standards. Our management was honored to serve as
President of that organization. Today North American Signs is run by the founder's
Grandson, John Maurice Yarger and still active are the founders two sons,
Noel Yarger and Tom Yarger.
North American Signs and its leadership team have been selected for national,
state and local awards. Our management philosophy is to deliver the best service
possible for our customers. We believe to do that we must take a good care
of our employees by providing both exceptional training and a family friendly
work environment. The national, state and local awards recognize our having
accomplished those goals.
