Designer
This role designs artwork for our clients while collaborating with manufacturing and project management teams to create drawings to scale with the overarching goal of protecting our clients’ brands.
BASIC FUNCTIONS:
Create sign shop drawings for client presentations, municipality negotiations, landlord negotiations, permit acquisition, bid packages and production using CorelDraw x7.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for getting clean and accurate Artwork from the Design Department into production, and outside contractors, in the form of CAD/CAM files.
- Ability to communicate and interpret drawings and hand sketches through use of Architectural scale.
- Work with Sales Executives, Project Managers and Production to create accurate and on time prints (including but not limited to elevation drawings, sign design, placement drawings, photo editing and detailed cross sections) that best interprets the customer’s vision and installation needs.
- Ability to problem solve through the sign placement and design process.
- Desire to learn about the sign industry and its affect on the retail market.
- Create aesthetically correct designs with consideration to spatial design layout and placement.
- Ability to prioritize work schedule.
- Provide creative input on design decisions.
- Serves as support to the Project Managers and understands each team’s role and contributions to the department and company.
- Remains current with design and technology trends.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Understanding of design and manufacturing processes.
- Proficient within a Windows based environment and working knowledge of the manufacturing process and related software.
- Highly developed drawing skills required, including the ability to draw to scale and photo editing skills.
- Extreme attention to detail.
- Excellent customer service skills, in person, on the phone and in writing.
- Comfortable with team-based work structure.
- Ability to demonstrate flexibility on the job.
- Demonstrates initiative, is conscientious and provides complete follow-through on areas of responsibility.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- 2 or more years of experience or equivalent.
REQUIRED COMPUTER SKILLS:
- Working knowledge in design software such as CorelDraw, Corel/Photo-Paint, Adobe Products and Google SketchUp in a windows based environment. Knowledge of FlexiSign, EnRoute or AutoCad would be a plus.
